A special page: introduction

Two years ago, I collected information on the water shortages that occurred on the West Bank, due to the political conflict between Israel and the Palestinians in the Occupied Territories. This was published on this web site, along with some background material. See: Summer 1998: a new water shortage on the West Bank.

This year, a new water crisis will hit the population of the Jordan River basin, not only on the West Bank but in Jordan and Israel as well. The winter  did not bring the expected loads of rain that normally refill the Jordan River, the Sea of Galilee and the underground natural water storages under the West Bank. This urges the Israeli government to take action and to declare a 'Drought Year'. And again, the worst situation will be for the Palestinian inhabitants of the West Bank, who rely on Israel for the distribution of drinking water.

On these pages, I will keep up with these issues. Regularly, the site will be updated with news. You can be of assistance by notifying new resources and sending me additional articles.
